No messing about here, let's get baking...
Serves 8
Ingredients
- 100g Stork or a Dairy Free Substitute
- 100g Caster Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 100g Self-Raising Flour
- 6 tbsp Golden Syrup
Method
- Pre-heat your oven to 200C Fan and thoroughly grease a loaf tin with butter.
- In a large bowl cream together your stork and sugar until light and fluffy. Then add 1 egg and mix together, followed by a tbsp of your flour. This will help prevent the mixture curdling.
- Add your remaining egg and whisk into the mix. Now fold in the remaining flour until fully combined.
- Now spoon your golden syrup into the base of your loaf or dome tin and carefully tilt your tin to equally spread the golden syrup around the base and slightly up the sides.
- Pour the batter into the tin and spread over the golden syrup. Cover with foil and bake in your pre-heated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted.
- Leave to cool for 5 minutes before turning out onto a plate. This can be served straight away or left and re-heated in the microwave. I serve with warm custard :)
Happy baking x
